in san francisco are also investigating an officer-involved shooting tonight. it begin with a car chase on john daly boulevard in daly city. it ended in san francisco. tomas ramon tells us what happened. >> reporter:. >> it happened in the morning. >> reporter: he lives about 40 yards where they stopped a stolen car. he heard gunshots at about 12:30 a.m. >> we were in bed and all of a sudden, i heard four or five shots and woke me up. >> reporter: evidence markers mark the spots where shell casings fell. police said the chase that ended in the suspect being shot to death here started in daly city early saturday morning. they say the stolen car was spotted on john daly avenue and they took pursuit. they gave up the chase when they hit highway 101. >> the police officers observed the vehicle on bruno avenue and followed behind it. >> the two vehicles stopped the car on hester avenue. passengers surrounded but the driver ran away. >> he raised his gun at the officers. the daly city police officer discharged his firearm at the suspect. >> the suspect died from a gunshot wound to the torso.
